Shell Helix and Wunderman Thompson Commerce win 2020 WebAward
Shell Helix and Wunderman Thompson Commerce have been recognised for outstanding achievement in web development in the automobile sector at the WebAwards 2020. Commended for the creation of Shell Helix’s first global Direct to Consumer website, built on the Shopify platform.
The site offers an Online to Offline (O2O) experience to schedule an oil change service. The website has been developed in both English and Arabic for the Egyptian market where eCommerce is still in the infancy stages of adoption.

Shell wanted to sell more volume of Shell Helix passenger car engine oil in Egypt, capture direct consumer data and deliver an enhanced customer experience based on real insight. The website was developed from start to finish on the Shopify platform within 12 weeks and is the first direct to consumer eCommerce website for Shell Helix globally, selling Shell Helix passenger car engine oil. The business will look to optimise media and cross-selling opportunities based on insight gained online and share its learnings with other markets going forward.
