Wunderman Thompson Commerce Launches Shell Helix's First Global Direct to Consumer (D2C) Website

Shell Helix’s first-ever Direct to Consumer (DTC) Shopify eCommerce platform taps into the oil and gas market and wins multiple awards.

London, UK. 9th September 2020: Global eCommerce consultancy Wunderman Thompson Commerce has developed and debuted Shell Helix’s first-ever Direct to Consumer website in Egypt.

Consumers in Egypt can now purchase and schedule an oil change service using the Online to Offline (O2O) experience, another first for Shell Helix. From inception to full implementation, it took just 12 weeks to develop the website for Shell Helix, Shell’s passenger car engine oil brand.

The Shopify platform captures customer and order data to identify trends and behaviours as part of the first phase approach. This data is then transferred to four mobile vans that deliver oil directly, with plans in place to expand the service into other countries in phase two and three.

The website was built in both English and Arabic for the Egyptian market by three cross-functional teams from London, Cairo and Melbourne who leveraged insight from Shell’s global distribution centres.
