How did you start working with us?

I can say that I have a very strong background in Computer Science and Software Engineering even though I do not have a Computer Science degree, I did a Computer systems management and programming course in high school, after that I went a step further and did a specialist level of the same course, making it 5 years of learning about Computer Science and Software Engineering. I met VML at probably the best time to do so, I was finishing my course and had to make a decision on where to start working, where to start my career and I couldn’t have chosen better. Not being a Portuguese company, and the idea of working in International projects made me really fell like it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to start here.

What have you learnt so far?

The amount of knowledge I have acquired in such a small amount of time is just unbelievable, being surrounded by people who have so much experience and so much know-how is really a pleasant experience that just makes you want to learn more and push your boundaries even more.

You are put in an environment that just pushes you and motivates you to develop all the skills that you want and need to achieve your goals, either on a personal level or in the work that you are doing in your project!

After being in a project for more than a year working as a BE, I asked to be moved into a FE role to experience both things and understand what is the path I want to take in my career, I found all the support that I needed from my manager and everyone at the company. This was the most important chance in my time while in the company, made me feel valued and made me feel important because people care about me being in here and want to build with me.

Why VML?

As I have talked about in the texts above, the environment is close to perfect, if not perfect, for you to excel in any area you want, you have flexibility, and most importantly, you have people that listen to you and listen to what you need, plus they do not just listen, they make things happen!

The social environment around the office’s is second to none, there is a fun and diverse culture that is hard to find, and at the end of the day, being in a place that you feel safe and enjoy, makes you as much as proactive as happy!
