How did you start working with us?

I studied Biostatistics at the University of Lisbon. After a year of working as a Biostatistician in a hospital, I realised that my true passion lay somewhere else, so I left the job and started looking into what I really wanted to do, and eventually I started studying to become a developer. That's when I decided to embark on a new journey and join VML as part of their graduate programme.

What have you learnt so far?

My transition from Biostatistics to Frontend Development has been a thrilling learning experience. While my academic background provided me with a strong analytical foundation, my time at the previous job taught me the importance of effective communication and collaboration within a team. Now, as a Frontend Developer in this graduate programme, I'm not only refining my technical skills but also discovering web development and problem-solving. It's incredibly satisfying to see the tangible results of my work and the impact it has on the team and client.

Why VML?

Firstly, it offers a supportive and inclusive environment that welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds. This is particularly important for someone like me making a career transition. Secondly, the graduate programme provides ample opportunities for growth and learning. I'm eager to advance my career within the company, and the structured scheme here gives me a clear path to do so. Lastly, I appreciate the company's commitment to work-life balance and flexibility, and also its social side, which aligns with my values and allows me to continue learning while maintaining a healthy balance.
